It's here! The latest release of my custom replacement PCB design for SNES controllers is finally ready for public consumption! BEHOLD:
You can click those images for a closer look.
Super Replacement PCB rev_5j changes:
-
NEW FEATURE! (PCB) Lighted buttons! Footprints have been added for 0603 (yes, they're tiny) LEDs near the face buttons and D-Pad, along with associated 0805 current limiting resistors. White LEDs are specified in the BoM, but you can use whatever color you like (I won't tell anyone).
Just look at this beauty, will ya?
-
NEW FEATURE! (PCB) SOCD Filter Circuit! I've added a couple of CD4011B quad-NAND gate ICs and associated routing to the board for an optional filter circuit that cancels out simultaneous UP/DOWN or LEFT/RIGHT D-Pad inputs. Bypassing this circuit (in case you don't want/need to use it) is made possible by the inclusion of solder jumper pads - see the assembly instructions for more detail.
-
(PCB) This version made it necessary to rip-up and re-route all traces on the PCB. Quite a lot of work, but worth it in the end I think because the overall routing is a bit more efficient.
-
(FAB) Along with the above new circuitry, I've done an improvement pass on the component data contained in the project schematic with the goal of improving the BoM generated from the project.
-
(OTHER) An interactive HTML BoM is now available with the rest of the downloads, which you can use to check parts off as you source and populate them. Not that this board has a ton of parts, but I still think it's pretty neat.
